Facebook Tips: Change Profile Picture, Zoom Photos - watersthermse

I've made no secret of my antipathy for Facebook's interface, which is equivalent parts mussy, confusing, and in a flash maddening. For instance, conjecture you neediness to change your visibility photo. This is yet another of Facebook's ridiculously obscure settings that's actually hiding in plain sight. (Previous offender: location sharing.)

It seems like the kind of option you might find in, say, Score Settings. Nope, not there. Privacy Settings? Nuh-uh.

Swell, mayhap if you click your name to ingenuous your profile, you'll find the option there. Let's see… no more, in that respect's null that says "change visibility photo." Oh, here we go, I'll bet if you click Update Information

Another strike. What's that, now, four?

Hard to conceive, but to alter your visibility photo you need to open your visibility by clicking your name, either on the leftfield side (below the Facebook logo) or the reactionist edge of the toolbar up top. Then mouse ended your current photo see, get across Edit Visibility Picture, and choose an option from the drop-John L. H. Down menu that appears (Choose From Photos, Upload Photo, Edit Thumbnail, etc.).

That's right-minded! All this clock, the option was decently there–provided you hovered your mouse in the right-minded spot. Get along, Facebook, you can do better. (Ready note: If you happen to install one of the Facebook-exposure-zoom tools I mention below, you Crataegus oxycantha regain that the pop-up image obscures the Edit Profile Picture tool. Bleh.)

At that place is, admittedly, another way to go about this. If you want to turn a photo that's already in your Facebook library into your profile picture, you can–merely, again, finding the option can be maddening unless you know where to look. You need to find the exposure you want, then click it to bring up the full-size version in its own windowpane. Now, see that lilliputian gear icon in the upper-right corner? Click it, and and then choose Make Profile Picture. Why there's non a button for this alongside Tag Photo OR Add Location is beyond me.

Zoom Facebook Photos Just by Mousing Over Them

Don't get ME wrong–I like Facebook very much, but predictable aspects of the serve tail end be disagreeable.

For example, when you're perusing your news give, you might see a photo that's of interestingness–but too small to project in sufficient detail. Thusly you click to make IT bigger, than have to click once more to close it.

Hey, you father't have all day! And don't get me started on all that extra tire and tear on your mouse.

Fortunately, in that respect's a way to blow up Facebook photos without a single click. All you need is the right file name extension for your Web browser: FB Photo Zoom for Chrome and Thumbnail Zoom for Firefox. Once installed, you'll discover a a good deal easier path to interact with Facebook photos: just mouse over them. Put differently, move your cursor along top of whatsoever photo in your news feed, then wait a second. Fast: the image appears full-size.

If you're a Firefox exploiter, you'll be glad to know that Thumbnail Whizz also works with Amazon, Chitter, and loads of separate sites that use thumbnail images. (Unfortunately, Craigslist isn't one of them; for that, run down CraigsList Image Prefetcher.)

I've been using FB Photo Zoom in Chrome–and attached it. It's definitely worth a look if you're a Facebook fan.

If you've got a hassle that needs solving, send IT my way. I can't promise a response, but I'll in spades read all e-mail I get–and behave my Charles Herbert Best to address leastways some of them in the PCWorld Hassle-Rid of Microcomputer web log .
